Episode: Traditions - Dave Fry & Eli Smith (Brooklyn Folk Fest)

This week's guests were Dave Fry and Eli Smith.    Dave performed live and shared songs from his recent CD "Troubadour".  We also discussed the role of artists-teachers in children's music.  Dave also talked about his role in the founding of the iconic venue Godfrey Daniel's in Bethlehem, PA.   Eli, producer of the Brooklyn Folk Festival, gave us a sneak preview of this year's event to be held April 5-7 at St. Ann's Church in Brooklyn.  Eli also performed live in the studio and gave us the world-radio premiere of a new CD from the Ozark Highballers.

Show: Traditions

The longest running show on WFDU-FM, TRADITIONS was created by Ron Olesko in 1980
Listening to TRADITIONS is your weekly ticket to a virtual folk festival.  Each week, Ron samples the diverse world of folk music in all its various forms - introducing you to emerging singer-songwriters, throwing a spotlight on the trailblazers of the folk revival, and sharing the  countless treasures of the folk music community - including acoutisc blues, Celtic, country, Cajun and other flavors of American and World roots music.
Ron's guests visit the show to share their songs live and give you insight into their music. In addition, Ron shares announcements about upcoming concerts and festivals in our area.
Traditions airs every Sunday from 3-6 PM ET and streams live on the web through this website.  Join in the fun each week!
