Host Ron Olesko welcomes singer-songwriter Joel Rafael to the studio.  Joel performs songs from his new CD "Rose Avenue" and talks about Woody Guthrie, socially relevant songwriting, and a career that began in the early 70s.

The longest running show on WFDU-FM, TRADITIONS was created by Ron Olesko in 1980
Listening to TRADITIONS is your weekly ticket to a virtual folk festival.  Each week, Ron samples the diverse world of folk music in all its various forms - introducing you to emerging singer-songwriters, throwing a spotlight on the trailblazers of the folk revival, and sharing the  countless treasures of the folk music community - including acoutisc blues, Celtic, country, Cajun and other flavors of American and World roots music.
Ron's guests visit the show to share their songs live and give you insight into their music. In addition, Ron shares announcements about upcoming concerts and festivals in our area.
Traditions airs every Sunday from 3-6 PM ET and streams live on the web through this website.  Join in the fun each week!
Ron can also be heard weekday mornings on Folk Music Notebook, a 24/7 Internet channel devote to folk music that Ron created and operates.
