Biography

Listening to the radio was Big Al's passion throughout his childhood in Brooklyn and as a Jersey teenager.

Interest and fascination with this medium led to involvement at a small college station (13.21 watts, believe it or not!) back in the early 1980's.

During the 1984 winter break (up late with the radio on), he stumbled into 89.1 WFDU. The overall station sound and on-air talent made an indelible impression on him. A few months later Big Al joined WFDU and has been working new music overnights ever since.

Every Saturday night/Sunday morning he sparks listener interest in music which is new and different. His greatest thrill (besides a great segue) occurs when someone calls in the middle of the night to say how much they enjoy the show.

So listen to the Big Al Show for a wide variety of independent releases (domestic and imported) from every genre in the new music rotation, plus the occasional gem located deep within the dusty WFDU archives.
