Ed Alstrom started out serving as Assistant Music Director at WFDU in 2011, then started side-kicking and subbing on various shows. His first regular show was ROOT-891, a Roots/Americana show on Sunday afternoons, from Oct. 2012, which ran for a little over a year. The first broadcast of the GOT SOUL? program was November 25, 2013, and that show still airs every Monday from 1~4pm. He has since added THE MIGHTY ORGAN to his duties, which airs online from 4~5pm on Mondays.

Ed attended Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ and escaped with a B.M. in Organ Performance, despite playing in disco lounges nearly every night.

Over the years, Alstrom has performed with Bette Midler, Chuck Berry, Leonard Bernstein, Herbie Hancock, Eddie Fisher, Odetta, Levon Helm, Dion, Larry Coryell, Darlene Love, LaLa Brooks, Ronnie Spector, Lou Rawls, Zubin Mehta, Donald Fagan, John Sebastian, Hubert Sumlin, Uncle Floyd, Al Kooper, Stanley Jordan, Steven Van Zandt, Marvin Hamlisch, Ben E. King, Cissy Houston, John Lloyd Young (star of 'Jersey Boys' on Broadway), Blood Sweat and Tears, and many others.

Ed’s Broadway experience includes stints as Associate Conductor and keyboardist on 'Hairspray', 'Leader Of The Pack, ‘Catch Me If You Can', 'Smokey Joe's Cafe', 'Taboo', 'Brooklyn', & 'Hot Feet'. Off-Broadway, he has been Musical Director for 'Give A Man A Mask', 'Once Around The Sun', and 'Dream A Little Dream (The Mamas & Papas Musical)'.He has 4 CDs out on his own, and has appeared on countless others playing keyboards, guitar, bass, and singing.

Today, along with his many musical projects, Ed is the weekend organist at Yankee Stadium, organist for the Rockland Boulders baseball team in Pomona, NY (Can-Am League) and serves as Organist/Music Director at Caldwell United Methodist Church in Caldwell (NJ). He is active doing all kinds of gigs in the NJ-NY area, including many classical and theater organ recitals.
